I work with clients to unblock and move into a more inspired every day. Here are a few objections I hear when my clients are avoiding their own progress, and the first questions I ask as their coach.

“I don’t have time for this right now”

I’d ask; 

  • “What is the benefit you get from being ‘busy?'” 
  • Are you holding “busy” as a virtue? 
  • What else is that impacting for you in your life? 
  • Are you using “busy” to avoid things that are more meaningful to you? 

We often use busy as a way to avoid things, and to be fair sometimes with good reason. However, your own development is a great reason to shed the “busy” myth and become more spacious, space to create meaningful work.

“I’m not creative”

I’d say, “Bullshit.” 🙂 Ok, maybe you’re not making art, but you are creating every day of your life. You use creative tools like your imagination every day. What if you had a few powerful frameworks to take that imagination somewhere productive and impactful, what would you stop avoiding and start doing? When you did create that future, how would you get to describe yourself?

You don’t have to be a creative to wield creative tools.

“I don’t have the discipline”

I’d say, “Go back in your memory, who was the first person to tell you that? Is that story outdated?” Our beliefs are stories we tell ourselves over and over again. There were things you couldn’t do as a kid that you can and have now. Like riding a bike. You knew you couldn’t, but you tried and opened up a new skill you can use anytime.

Your “lack of discipline” is welcome here. In fact, we are very neurospicy-friendly, and that myth is something you can wield as a superpower.
